Federico Guillermo Gil Papers, 1941-1996

Federico Guillermo Gil, Kenan Professor Emeritus in the Political Science Department, and director of the Institute of Latin American Studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Materials relating to economics and politics in Venezuela and Chile, including correspondence between Gil and Romulo Betancourt (1908-1981), provisional president, 1945-1948, and president, 1959-1964, of Venezuela. Items relating to Chile are chiefly writings by Chilean politicians, including Radomiro Tomic, 1960s-1970s, and papers by Gil. Files pertaining to the Latin American Studies Association, the Army Specialized Training Program, the Instituto de Cooperacion Iberoamericano, and the Institute of Latin American Studies at UNC-CH are also included.
